sohan

Sohan is a traditional Iranian sweet that, based on its main ingredients — wheat germ flour, butter or animal fat, sugar, and honey — can be considered a type of Persian halva.

Sohan is produced in various forms in the cities of Qom, Isfahan, Yazd, and Kerman.
Among them, Sohan Esfahan, also known as Sohan Asali Esfahan (Honey Sohan of Isfahan), is a distinctive variety made with honey and butter rather than animal fat. It differs from Sohan Qom in taste, texture, and appearance, and because of its lower fat content, it enjoys a longer shelf life.

Sohan Esfahan is thin, crisp, and beautifully adorned with generous amounts of pistachios and almonds. It is a rich source of wheat germ flour, wholemeal flour, and honey, offering both nutrition and flavor.
Its delightful aroma and unique taste come from the use of premium butter, natural honey, cardamom, and saffron — ingredients that embody the essence of Persian confectionery art.

Alongside Gaz, Sohan is an inseparable part of Nowruz celebrations, and a beloved gift and souvenir representing the hospitality and sweetness of Isfahan.
